Now, does that mean that every player must do the math of the game? Fortunately, one does not have to do the laborious work in determining what is the statistically correct move in a given hand in blackjack. It is true that basic strategy is technically the mathematics in blackjack but players today are the scions of other men's experience and thousands of computer simulations.

You don't have to work things out when formulating basic strategy since others have already done the work for you. You can be sure that the basic strategy for blackjack has been thoroughly tested using countless computer simulations. With the information already a given, then the only thing left to do is to master the correct moves.

The last roadblock to learning the strategy used in blackjack is the fact that there are different rules for each game and each rule affects your odds of winning and the house edge. Adjustments should be made to basic strategy for each rule variation you'll find. However, the good news is that the adjustments are only minor and you really won't have to memorize a ton of moves.

What players need to do is to check the rule variations of their favorite blackjack game like doubling after a split, surrender, or if the dealer hits on a soft 17. After that, check out the strategy for that particular blackjack table and master the correct optimal moves.
